Used in complex therapy for: rickets; acute respiratory diseases with exudative diathesis; acute and chronic bronchopulmonary diseases; hypotrophy; collagenesis; skin pathological processes (frostbite, burns, wounds, ichthyosis, follicular dyskeratosis, senile keratosis, cutaneous tuberculosis, some forms of eczema, psoriasis); inflammatory and ulcerative-erosive lesions of the intestines; liver cirrhosis; chronic gastritis; prevention of urinary tract stone formation.

The drug should be used under medical supervision. Long-term use of retinol acetate requires monitoring of biochemical indicators and blood clotting. In the treatment of night blindness, retinol acetate should be used with riboflavin and nicotinic acid. Use with caution in severe hepatobiliary disorders or diseases accompanied by coagulation abnormalities. Not recommended during prolonged tetracycline therapy. Retinol should be taken 1 hour before or 4–6 hours after cholestyramine. The drug accumulates and persists in the body for a long time. Women who have taken high doses of retinol should plan pregnancy no earlier than 6–12 months later due to potential risks of fetal development from high Vitamin A levels. Adequate dietary fat is necessary for proper absorption. Excessive alcohol or tobacco use may reduce absorption. The preparation contains soybean oil; should not be used in patients allergic to peanuts or soy.
Due to high doses of Vitamin A, the drug is contraindicated for internal use during pregnancy and lactation.
Retinol acetate is taken orally 10–15 minutes after meals.
