Nurofen syrup for children: a fast and effective remedy against fever and pain.
Generic Name: Ibuprofen
Pharmacotherapeutic Group: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).
Clinical-Pharmacological Group: Anti-inflammatory agents → Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for systemic use → Propionic acid derivatives with pronounced analgesic effect.
For Fever: Used in children aged 3 months to 12 years as an antipyretic (fever reducer) for acute respiratory diseases, influenza, childhood infections, and post-vaccination reactions accompanied by elevated body temperature.
For Pain: For mild to moderate pain syndromes (toothache, headache, earache, sore throat, muscle pain, joint pain, rheumatic pain, migraine, neuralgia, and sprains).
Note: The drug is intended for symptomatic therapy to reduce pain and inflammation at the time of use; it does not affect the progression of the underlying disease.
Form: Oral suspension. For patients with stomach sensitivity, it is recommended to take the drug during meals.
Preparation: Shake the bottle well before use.
Using the Dosing Syringe:
Insert the syringe firmly into the neck of the bottle.
Turn the bottle upside down and slowly pull the plunger down to draw the suspension to the required mark.
Place the syringe into the child's mouth and slowly press the plunger to release the suspension.
After use, wash the syringe with warm water.
The maximum daily dose should not exceed 30 mg/kg, with intervals of 6–8 hours between doses.
3–6 months (5 – 7.6 kg): 2.5 ml (50 mg) — up to 3 times in 24 hours (not more than 7.5 ml).
6–12 months (7.7 – 9 kg): 2.5 ml (50 mg) — 3–4 times in 24 hours (not more than 10 ml).
1–3 years (10 – 16 kg): 5.0 ml (100 mg) — up to 3 times in 24 hours (not more than 15 ml).
4–6 years (17 – 20 kg): 7.5 ml (150 mg) — up to 3 times in 24 hours (not more than 22.5 ml).
7–9 years (21 – 30 kg): 10 ml (200 mg) — up to 3 times in 24 hours (not more than 30 ml).
10–12 years (31 – 40 kg): 15 ml (300 mg) — up to 3 times in 24 hours (not more than 45 ml).
Post-Immunization Fever: In children under 6 months – 2.5 ml. If necessary, another 2.5 ml after 6 hours. Do not exceed 5 ml (100 mg) in 24 hours.
Duration of Treatment: Not more than 3 days.
When to Consult a Doctor: If symptoms persist or worsen within 24 hours (for infants 3–5 months) or within 3 days (for children 6 months and older).
